Representatives of the London-listed provider of various gambling solutions Sportech PLC announced that Rich Roberts will no longer be a part of company’s team.
According to people with knowledge of the matter, one of the factors that made him step down from the post of a President of Digital and US Corporate Affairs was the reorganisation of responsibilities that affected the North America Sportech ventures. In addition, the company is no longer working in collaboration with Draft Day Daily Fantasy Sports.
In order to ensure a smooth transition and minimize the negative consequences his departure might lead to, he will step down from his post at the end of August. Then, his responsibilities are assigned to other members of the Board.
Ted Taylor, who is currently taking the position of a Managing Director for Connecticut-based venues, will be in charge of the online gambling activities in the state. The Sportech Racing and Digital department will be overseen by Andrew Gaughan.
Sportech’s CEO, Ian Penrose, commented on Mr. Roberts’ departure and said that he has been a key asset for the company and played an important role during the digital activities in New Jersey last year. Mr. Penrose did not miss the opportunity to thank the soon-to-leave President of Digital and US Corporate Affairs for his great contribution to Sportech and wished him best of luck in his future endeavours.
Rich Roberts himself also commented on his departure and said he was happy to be a part of the company. He also added that he was glad about the success Sportech has achieved in the field of digital projects under his guidance.
Mr. Roberts has been a Member of the Board of directors for three years. He was appointed as a President of Digital and Corporate Affairs in the summer of 2014. Before he assumed this post, he used to work as a non-executive director for a smaller gambling company.
As for Sportech, it had its ups and downs over the last couple of years, but the upgrade of the Racing and Digital division led to positive results and a strong start of the financial year. Sportech’s expansion was further boosted by the opening of a new office in Singapore and consolidating company’s positions on the Asian gambling market.
